Organizations use enterprise data management (EDM) methodologies to support timely and accurate delivery of their data created, integrated, disseminated and managed for all enterprise applications and processes. Without an effective enterprise data management plan, accomplishing business objectives can’t happen in the most efficient or secure way possible. EDM is a challenge for an organization because it requires alignment between different stakeholders which may include IT, finance, operation, strategy and end- users. Still the major challenges in achieving EDM are as follows: -
IT complexity - IT complexity is one of the major challenges in achieving EDM. Mostly every business organization find that the complexity of use of IT systems, which has a major impact on their ability to realize their goals for enterprise data management. The firms that didn’t have this problem tended to be the smaller ones. “But the few percentage of respondents who claimed no problems in this area included several large organizations that said they had streamlined their IT infrastructure over the past few years and that it now had no impact on their ability to implement new data management initiatives.
Finding the right budget – Finding the required budget to make necessary investments are the second-most frequent problem, and this is closely linked to the difficulties in establishing a concrete ROI for these investments;
